Yesterday saw the release of 2017 Operación Triunfo contestant Nerea Rodríguez’ debut single “Y Ahora No”. It comes almost a year after her spell in the famous Academy and is a beautiful ballad about an intense love. To many, selecting a ballad as their debut single would seem risky but for Nerea it was a no-brainer. It allows her stunning vocals to take centre stage and reminds us just why we fell in love with her on Operación Triunfo.
The single is already set to be a massive hit for the singer after reaching the number one spot on Itunes in Spain on the day of its release. The music video stars actor Diego Dominguez as her lover, with a cameo appearance from Operación Triunfo alum Diana Tobar, and has already gained close to half a million views in less than 48 hours.

Nerea rose to fame last year on the ninth season of Spanish talent show Operación Triunfo. Week after week on the show she blew us away with her performances. These included her renditions of “Quédate Conmigo” – a song made famous by Spanish singer Pastora Soler – as well as her duet of Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson’s “Symphony” with fellow contestant Agoney Hernández. Nerea’s performances saw her reach Gala 10 in the competition where she finished in eighth place after facing the public vote against Agoney Hernández.
The show was a massive success in Spain with millions of viewers tuning in to each gala and the sixteen contestants who made it into the Academy embarking on a nationwide tour over the spring and summer months earlier this year.
